INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA – October 29, 2026 – A memorable reception was held at the Great Hall of Landhaus 1 in Innsbruck to celebrate two important milestones in Philippine-Austrian relations: more than 20 years of the Philippine Consulate in Tyrol and the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Austria and the Philippines.

The reception took place on Thursday, October 29, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Landhaus 1, Eduard-Wallnöfer-Platz 3, 6020 Innsbruck. The event was hosted by Dr. Christian Traweger, Honorary Consul of the Philippines for Tyrol and Vorarlberg, with the support of the State of Tyrol.

The celebration brought together distinguished guests, representatives of the Austrian government, members of the diplomatic community, friends of the Philippines, and representatives of various Filipino associations in Tyrol.

Among the distinguished personalities who delivered congratulatory messages and words of appreciation were Philippine Chargé d’Affaires Candy Cypres-Bauzon, Tyrol State Parliament President Mag. Jakob Wolf, and Innsbruck Vice Mayor Georg Willi.

Their remarks highlighted the longstanding friendship between the Philippines and Austria, the importance of diplomatic cooperation, and the valuable contributions of the Filipino community to Austrian society.

For Dr. Christian Traweger, the occasion was an opportunity to celebrate not only the history of the Philippine Consulate in Tyrol but also the strong relationships built over the years between the two countries and their people.

The more than two decades of Philippine consular presence in Tyrol and Vorarlberg have played an important role in maintaining close connections with Filipinos living in western Austria, providing consular assistance and strengthening people-to-people ties.

Meanwhile, the 80 years of diplomatic relations between Austria and the Philippines represent eight decades of mutual respect, cooperation, cultural exchange, and friendship.

The gathering also highlighted the important role of Filipino associations in Tyrol in bringing the community together, preserving Filipino culture and traditions, and promoting a positive image of the Philippines in Austria.

It was a successful and heartwarming celebration, attended by numerous distinguished guests, friends, and members of the Filipino community.

Dr. Traweger expressed his special appreciation to Chargé d’Affaires Candy Cypres-Bauzon, Landtag President Mag. Jakob Wolf, and Vice Mayor Georg Willi for their gracious speeches and congratulatory messages. He also extended his gratitude to all the guests, friends, and representatives of Filipino organizations in Tyrol who participated in making the celebration a meaningful occasion.

Beyond the anniversaries, the celebration served as a reminder that the friendship between the Philippines and Austria goes far beyond diplomatic ties. It lives on through the people, communities, partnerships, and shared values that continue to bring the two nations closer together.
